1958 Colts 26 - 1977 Cowboys 14

1958 Lenny Moore is crazy good. Sometimes he lines up as a halfback, where he averaged 7.3 YPC in amassing 598 yards. More often he is a WR, where he caught 50 passes for an 18.8 avverage per catch. He did this in a 12 game season. A second quarter injury to Moore slowed down the Colts offense, but by then they had scored enough points for their strong defense to win the game. In any event, with Raymond Berry, Alan Ameche, and TE Jim Mutscheller there are enough weapons for this offense to work with Johnny Unitas under center.

Unlike later Colts powerhouse teams, this is a run first outfit. Johnny U. is merely good, but its a solid enough team to beat almost anyone.

As weaknesses go pretty much their only serious flaw is a kicking game that borders on comical. I know some old timers swear that Ameche's 1 yard TD riun in the NFL's first ever Overtime game ("the Greatest Game Ever Played") was called because of a desire to cover the point spread. In reality, FG kicker Steve Myrha only hit on 4 FG attempts all season, so I think the decision to run the ball instead was the correct one.
