Holy Crap. This wasn't even fair. This Bengals offense is about as good as there is, and early 70's teams cannot play from behind, and if they get no breaks and everything works as planned for the 88 Bengals you get results like this. The 73 Rams might as well have been the 2012 Chiefs. The Bengals pass defense is pretty bad, but it just didn't matter. the Rams slink off in shame. |

Boomer Esiason was fantastic as Cincinnati pounded Los Angeles by the score of 49 to 0. Esiason threw for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns. James Brooks ran the ball 17 times for 104 yards scoring 2 times. It was a magnificent day for the Cincinnati defense, as they shutout the Los Angeles offense. They enjoyed success on third down, converting on 11 of 16 opportunities. Cincinnati controlled the action both on the ground and in the air. They out-ran Los Angeles 237 to 146 yards, and out-passed them 299 to 78 yards. They controlled the ball for 33:40. The fans were brought to their feet by a pass to Eddie Brown that went for 60 yards with 14:27 left in the 2nd quarter. Cincinnati got ahead early outscoring Los Angeles 14 to 0 in the first quarter. |
