1985 Bears 37 - 1967 Raiders 14

This was a country style beating administered to the Raiders by "Da Bears". The Raiders are a very good team, but the Bears are superb, apart from an average QB, and Walter Payton ripped the 11 angry men pretty thoroughly. The Bears also exploited the Raiders comparatively weak Strong Safety, burning him regularly with both Tim Wrightman and Emory Moorehead. The other problem for the Raiders was that Lamonica didn't get the kind of protection he needed for his "mad Bomber" antics.

I rate the Bears as a legit contender to take this tournament

Game Story

Walter Payton was fantastic as Chicago destroyed Oakland by the score of 37 to 14. Payton rushed for 126 yards and added a touchdown. Jim McMahon passed 30 times for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns. Chicago controlled the ground game, out-rushing Oakland 194 to 122 yards. Chicago got ahead early outscoring Oakland 17 to 0 in the first quarter. A bright spot for Oakland was a touchdown pass to Billy Cannon that gained 55 yards with 13:22 left in the 4th quarter. But it was not enough to bring his team a victory..
