1970 Lions 30 - 1963 Packers 7

The 1970 Lions have the weakest real life W - L record of any team in the tournament, but they are in it for a reason, or rather, a couple of reasons. This team intercepts like nobody's business, and QB Greg Landry in a fascinating weapon.

How so? Colin Kaepernick, RGIII, Michael Vick....pikers compared to this guy as a running QB. Well, OK, thats an exagerration. Still, Landry gained 350 yards running in 1970 - on 35 attempts. If you do the math that works out to a healthy 10.0 YPC. He was also a very good passer on top of it. In this game I only ran two designed runs with Landry, but he also scrambled on occasion, one of those being a 49 yard TD run. Apart from that he only hit six passes all game against the very tough Green Bay pass defense.

Given that the Lions picked off Bart Starr an appalling five times, four in the first half, and threw in another pick late versus scrub QB John Roach, the very limited Lions offensive production was quite enough. This was a game where the Lion's two biggest weapons came into play in a huge way, enough to upset a much better overall team.

The problem with the real life Lions was that they got swept by the Vikings and were then beaten in round one of the playoffs by the 1970 Cowboys, under terrible weather conditons, by the unusual score of 5 - 0. This is also the most recent Lions team in the tournament, which is pretty sad when you think about it.
