1986 Bears 22 - 1967 Rams 7

Of 29 total points scored in this game 16 were from the defenses, as two defensive heavyweights squared off. The Bears got off to a fast start, with Mike Singletary picking off the first play from scrimmage and returning it for a fast TD. Both QB's Roman Gabriel and Jim McMahon struggled in this one, and the two run defense bottled up the opposing running games very effectively. The biggest difference was that the Bears caoitaized on their limited offensive output, while the Rams could not, as kicker Bruce Gossett flubbed three FG attempts.

A critical advantage for many newer teams is the awful quality of a lot of the old time FG kickers, and this game was such a case.
