2010 Patriots 24 - 1996 49ers 17

I came close to beating the Pats. I called one of my better defensive games, and mostlyy held New England in check, but the 49ers just couldn't put any points on the board. This is not an especially strong 49er team, as the running game is weak, and Steve Young at this stage has truble throwing the deep ball, but its a great ball control passing team. So is New England, and they can run some as well.

The game was tied at 7 midway through the third when Tom Brady beat the SF blitz, Wes Welker took a short pass and scampered through the secondary with a 58 yard TD. SF evened the score at 14 all, then the Pats took the lead with a FG in the 4th. Steve Young drove to midfield, but was intercepted, and the Pats drove down the field and capitalized with a 16 yard scoring pass to Murdering Aaron Hernandez*

Derek Loville had a huge KO return, and a couple of playes later, with 1:30 left, I kicked a FG on first down, and hoped for an onside kick. No such luck.

* Murdering Aaron Hernandez is his official name in my Strat set. I used the name editor
