1967 Colts 44 - 1963 Chargers 17

Sometimes a great offense just has a bad day. This was the case for the 63 Chargers, certainly amongst the best 5 offenses in the tournament, as nothing seemed to work. Lance Alworth, maybe the greatest long pass catching WR of all time, dropped two balls after beating the DB. All Universe RB Paul Lowe turned in a dud performance. Worst of all, QB Tobin Rote, who had heretofor avoided the interception bug he sometimes suffers from, chucked away three interceptions, which set up the Colts nicely - and was in general off target all game.

As for the Colts offense, the Chargers plan was simple. Stop Johnny U., and don't sweat his pedestrian RB's too much. In this game those pedestrian RB's ran like men possessed, with elderly HB Lenny Moore coming off the bench for 4 carries and toting 2 of them for 21 yards, with Tom Matte, Jerry Hill, and Tony Lorick adding further good gains. Johnny U. wasn't stopped much anyways, and the result was a pretty convincing beat down of San Diego.
