1992 49ers 27 - 2005 Broncos 20

Both QB's played quite well in a close game, after an initial glitch from Jake Plummer. Plummer threw an end zone interception on the Broncos first drive, as Mike Anderson had run extremely well to open things for the Broncos. The 49ers took a 7-0 lead on a drive that was depressingly easy for Steve Young and company,

Not intimidated, however, tatum Bell did what he sometimes does on the Broncos second possession, taking a handoff and scampering 68 yards to the 49ers 10. Plummer hit Jeb Putzier on the next play for a TD to tie the score. After an exchange of FG's the 49ers took a 17-10 lead on a long TD pass to Brent Jones right before half time.

The two teams again exchanged FG's in the third, before Jake Plummer hit Ashley lelie on a 30 yard TD pass early in the 4th to tie the game again. About 4 minutes later though Steve Young and Jerry Rice teamed up to beat a Denver blitz for a 68 yard TD pass and a 27 - 20 lead. Plummer was able to lead a long drive to @ the San Francisco 20, but turned the ball over on downs, and lost the chance to put the game in OT.

The 2005 Broncos are a good but not great team, and they suffered from their terrible pass rush as they failed to get to Young at all and allowed him to gain over 60 yards on scrambles.
