1992 49ers 42 - 2010 Patriots 34

A high scoring affair, with two of the greatest QB's in NFL history klighting up two vulnerable pass defenses. This game saw 54 combined first downs and 8 lead changes before things settled down in San Francisco's favor in the 4th. Halftime saw a 28 - 24 49er lead, as each team only managed one stop in the first half

The game was really going to be all about who could conjour up a few stops. Unfortunately for the Niners, they did manage to force a punt, but Don Griffin fumbles the return, setting up an 11 yard TD pass to Murdering Aaron Hernandez. The Niners mounted a good TD drive of their own to retake the lead, and the Niners pass rush started to become effective in the second half, getting Brady 4 times. Another stop led to another TD and a little breathing room. A further stop at the end of the Third Quarter led to a 7 minte San Francisco drive to the New England 5, when the Pats jarred the ball loose from Tom Rathman and returned the ball 60 yards - a near miracle that almost resurrected New England's hopes. The fickle football fates dictated otherwise though, as Tom Brady threw his one bad pass of the game, allowing the 49ers to run more clock and pin them back inside their own 10 a few minutes later. The Pats scored the final points of the game after another long drive on a FG, but that was as close as they would get.
