| No drama in this game, after a couple of high stress dramatic finishes. The Giants lost by 18, but 13 of their points came in garbage time. This was in fact a blowout. The Giants enjoyed a huge time of possession advantage, mostly because the Rams scored so quickly and easily that their defense stayed on the field. Kerry Collins actually played extremely well, with over 400 yards passing, but the rams completely bottled up Tiki Barber, and Ron Dayne reverted to the Stiff we all know he was, after his first two game heroics. I had always felt that the 2000 Giants might have been the weakest tournament entrant, but for two games they had proved me wrong. Facing the "Greatest Show on Turf" their terrible pass defense finally caught up with them, as Ricky Proehl averaged 37 yards a catch on four catches, and the rest of the Rams receivers had good days as well. |
