2000 Giants 31 - 2001 Bears 28 OT

It goes to show. This game looked at first glance like a matchup of two of the weakest teams in the tournament, both of whom were fortunate to get past Round One. The Bears have an uninteresting unexplosive offense, while the Giants pass defense is a dumpster fire, and Kerry Collins is erratic.

Well, the Giants pass defense allowed Jim Miller to play a superb game, and Kerry Collins was not erratic. The Bears cloesed an 11 point gap late in the 4th, burning the Giants pass D for a long TD pass with :15 left and converting the two point attempt, and giving the Tournament its first Overtime game. Sadly for the Bears they could do nothing with their possession in OT, and Kerry Collins hit TE Pete Mitchell for a 23 yard connection in the flat. A couple more short passes and Brad daluiso put an end to it. The Giants remarkably stay alive.
