1992 49ers 28 - 2008 Titans 24

The 49ers overcame 2 Steve Young interceptions and 2 missed FG's by Mike Cofer to down the Titans. The real problem for the Titans was that their superb running game took the day off, as both Chris Johnson and LenDale White couldn't accomplish much against the tough 49er run defense. If you are asking Kerry Collins to pick up the slack you are asking the wrong guy, though he wasn't too bad in this game. Steve Young is another matter, and apart from his two interceptions he was effective all game long.

The 49ers will play the 2010 Pats for the Bracket

Game Story

Steve Young put up some nice numbers as San Francisco beat Tennessee by the score of 28 to 24. Young threw for 321 yards adding a touchdown. Ricky Watters ran the ball 18 times for 105 yards and added a touchdown. San Francisco was in control on third down, converting on 8 of 14 opportunities. They was in complete control of the action. They out-ran Tennessee 176 to 94 yards, and out-passed them 321 to 166 yards. San Francisco took the early lead outscoring Tennessee 14 to 7 in the first quarter. They led after three quarters 28 to 14. A hightlight for Tennessee was a touchdown pass to Justin Gage that went for 53 yards with 9:50 left in the 3rd quarter. But in the end that fine effort was wasted..
