There were a ton of fireworks in this game, as 98 Denver claims another victim. After 4 minutes of play Denver had scored TD's on 2 runs from Terrell Davis and a 90 yard KO return for Courtney Roby of the Saints (who had two in his last game.) new Orleans was able to knot the score at 14 later in the first, but quickly surrendered another 21 in the first half as Davis ran absolutely crazy, with nearly 150 yards on the ground by half time. The Saints did a better job slowing down Denver in the second half (it was almost impossible not to) but Drew Brees went stone cold, as he was forced to throw into constant dime coverage, was sacked four times, and was twice flagged for intentional grounding. Denver mostly ran clock, though TD added a 34 yard touchdown run in the Third Quarter to remove all remaining doubt about the outcome. The Saints had a good run. Their defense mostly needs to stop people by turnover, and they are good at it. They even turned over Denver three times, and Denver is extremely good at ball security. What they could not overcome was a terrible game from Brees, as they kept giving the lethal Bronco offense possessions. In game terms there are a very very few better RB's than Terrell Davis, and none of those are complemented by as good a passing attack as 98 Denver. |
