1990 49ers 24 - 1969 Raiders 0

Not too much to say beyond the obvious fact that the Niners took care of business in skunking the Faid. The Raiders actually dominated the First Quarter, only to have George Blanda miss two FG attempts. The raiders mounted one more scoring threat with a long completion to Warren Wells, but they fumbled in the Red Zone on the next play. That was about the last anyone saw of the Raider offense until the 4th quarter and after a 24 point SF lead. Lesson - when playing a good opponent, take care to score points when momentum favors you. These things have a way of changing if you don't.

This Raider team has a pretty weak running attack, allowing the Niners to play a lot of Nickel and to double team their dangerous WR's all game long.

Game Story

Joe Montana was locked in as San Francisco pounded Oakland by the score of 24 to 0. Montana passed the ball 31 times for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns. Roger Craig carried the ball 8 times for 56 yards. It was a wonderful day for the San Francisco defense, as they completely stifled the Oakland attack. They controlled the ground game, out-rushing Oakland 163 to 105 yards. San Francisco controlled the ball for 35:01. A hightlight for Oakland was a pass to Warren Wells that went for 56 yards with 9:17 left in the 3rd quarter. But in the end that fine effort was wasted..
